About Me
Rebecca Cunningham BA(hons) MArch PGDipCert ARB
Having graduated from the Universities of Sheffield and West England, I work to deliver high quality architecture in the private residential and agricultural sectors, with an emphasis on high quality finish and bespoke design. I have had the pleasure of advancing projects through difficult planning, conservation and Listed Building constraints and onto delivering construction of the highest quality. Working from west Cornwall, I am inspired by the historic and natural landscape, and aspire to create designs which are at one with their surroundings.
Services
Contact me today for a free initial consultation and project appraisal.
Planning & Building Control
I can guide you through the often complex procedure of securing permission for your project and draw on experience and local knowledge to advise on the feasibility of your proposals as well as develop a strategy for how the required permissions can be achieved.
Project Lead
I am available to lead projects through from inception to completion to manage a full project team including contractors, enginneers and surveyors to create a smooth development process you can trust to deliver a high quality build.
Collaboration
While project lead is the usual role of an architect within the build, I enjoy working collaboratively with clients , contractors and other designers to help realise their visions. From ensuring the design meets all the necessary constraints, to preparing detailed drawings for quotations from subcontractors, I can offer a range of services tailored to your specific needs.
Listed Buildings & Conservation
I specialise in the renovation and reimagining of buildings that are listed, set in conservation areas, or both. Living in a world heritage site, I understand the importance of respecting and preserving the past while creating a striking and positive vision for our future.

50's Bungalow Extension
In Construction
An 'ugly duckling' on the edge of the Minchinhampton Conservation Area and within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this dark 1950's bungalow required a thorough makeover both extend and adapt it into a family home suited to contemporary living in the country. The design, while updating and refining its modernist features, uses natural materials to root the house in its Cotswold setting.
Cornish Cottage Extension
In Construction
A simple extension can add all the difference to the confined spaces of the traditional mining cottages of Cornwall. Erected under permitted development restrictions, this extension was applied to two adjoining properties in west Cornwall

Townhouse Extension & Basement
Complete, 2017
I lead this project under the name of two previous employers, Paul Clark Architects and Smallwood Architects. Through dedication to the clients I was able to continue this through to completion despite the sudden closure of the first practice. This extension to a town house was designed to bring some Scandi-inspired flair to a London Conservation area.

Environment
Our Policy
Architecture and development has a direct impact on the local landscape and the world it inhabits. Our design ethos is one that reflects and respects the natural environment and this extends to a passionate determination to tread as lightly on this planet as possible. From passive solutions such as thermal massing and insulation to the developing active technologies of Air Source and Photo Voltaic power, we believe beautiful design can be enhanced by a fully integrated push toward a carbon neutral existence.

Business as Usual
While the Covid-19 crisis has driven many industries to a halt, the private property and development market is very much alive as clients rethink their live-work arrangements for a post-virus world. As such I continue to provide full services in line with government guidelines, all at the required social distance!

Available Across the South West
My experience covers a range of landscapes from Gloucestershire to my home in far-west Cornwall, with each project carefully designed to suit the unique context of the location and the individual requirements of each client.
